How did we help Localazy improve their developer experience?

Introduction

Localazy is a localization platform that helps companies translate their software, content and apps with minimal effort. It offers automated localization with the help of AI and professional translators. Recognizing how important it is to have an exceptional Developer Experience (DX) for its growing user base, Localazy decided to undergo a DX audit from us.

Process

Our collaboration began by defining the goals and expectations for both sides: 

1. evaluate the entire developer journey,
2. identify pain points, and
3. suggest potential improvements. 

Our DXH team then began reviewing the journey a typical developer has to take to integrate with Localazy, as well as how pleasant or annoying it is. We evaluated every step of the process, from a customer's initial discovery of Localazy to its tight integration and subsequent scaling.

Finally, we presented our findings to the Localazy team, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement, along with how they can improve to better serve their customers.

Discoveries

The audit revealed that Localazy offers developer experience that is almost excellent. 

Their presence in SEO, social media and on developer platforms such as GitHub makes them hard to miss when looking for an internationalization solution. 

They have an extensive developer portal with simple navigation, comprehensive documentation and guides that help their customers get up and running as fast as possible. 

However, we identified opportunities for improvement in areas like error documentation, links to their external resources, and contact with customers who want to scale.

Summary

Our collaboration with Localazy through the DX audit provided valuable insights into their strengths and weaknesses from a developer's perspective. Localazy already provides an industry-standard experience, but by implementing the recommended improvements, they will rise above and beyond in the eyes of the developer community. The first and most important step was that they went into the audit with us and demonstrated how much they value the developer experience of their product.
